Kristine Ireland Waits is a marketing and management expert who, in her twenties, found herself before a doctor being told she would not be able to conceive a child without medical assistance. She prayed, talked to friends, wrote a journal, cried and researched. She’s been through a fight for her family and wants to make others journey easier. Kristine knows the heartache, literal butt pain and jealousy sting. She wants women to know they are not alone. So, she wrote the book, Every Drunken Cheerleader: Why Not Me?, pouring her whole heart’s story and her entire collection of research, into what she knows will make a difference for the reader.
It took Kristine: 0 insurance coverage, 1 DNC, 2 rounds of In Vitro Fertilization, 3 medical doctors, 4 long hard years, 500 options and decisions, 6,000 hours of thinking about my situation, and 7,000,000 tears to finally have the family she does today.
“I want other women to gain the knowledge I have without having to experience all the pain and embarrassment I put myself through. I also want them to laugh a lot.”
Kristine lives in Oklahoma with her husband and their three children.
Out of college, Kristine worked as the Marketing Director for the Office of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer at Oklahoma State University. When her ambition got the best of her she and a friend began an image management and graphic design business called Savvy Communications. In deciding to start fertility treatments, she sold the business to her partner and was devastated when the In Vitro did not take and she was left with no baby and no job. She accepted a position as the Director of Golf and eventually tried the treatment again. Kristine retired from the position in December 2009 to raise the family. She is a full time mother of three and wife, part-time writer and, when time allows, enjoys charity work, reading, riding her bike, and a glass of wine with her best friends.
